Elumity is made for you

We are a dedicated, self-funded startup from the University of Bern, driven by the belief that academic users should shape the development of the tools they need — from building contextual knowledge to sharing knowledge objects and enhancing academic productivity. We are convinced that current tools contribute to the fragmentation of knowledge and an overwhelming amount of digital noise. What will the tools of the future look like? How will we build and advance our personal knowledge?

First, our beliefs - the foundation for Elumity

• We believe in empowering minds. We believe that building knowledge is very personal, and that a person's knowledge needs a home to grow. Not lost in the noise. Not offloaded to the web, at the expense of deeper understanding.
• We know that forgetting is part of being human. We must relearn and refresh what we’ve learned.
• We believe academic and professional knowledge should be built systematically, piece by piece, like a jigsaw puzzle. This approach not only helps identify and close knowledge gaps but also ensures that new insights are placed in context with what we already know. Context is the glue that helps information stick. That’s why we have created the concept of context cards, Elumity’s crown jewels.
• We also believe in breaking silos. Sharing and collaborating on knowledge objects - working together, discussing findings, and updating each other - creates a new kind of knowledge for our specialties. This collective effort can build something akin to a dynamic, living textbook.
