Annotation

In Elumity, annotations refer to the practice of adding notes, comments, or highlights directly to your documents. This is a crucial feature for researchers and professionals who want to interact with their resources dynamically. You can annotate PDFs, highlight key passages, and add your insights or questions directly into the document interface. Card

Cards in Elumity serve as the foundational content units that store snippets of information, research insights, or discussion points. Users can create Cards for topics they are researching, studying, or wish to share. Cards can include images, text, citations, and links to other resources, making them a versatile tool for learning and collaboration. You can post Cards in the Discover Feed or organize them into collections for personal use. Refer to Posting and Finding Cards in the Discover Feed for more information.

Citation

A citation is a reference to a published or unpublished source used within a document. In Elumity, you can search for and add citations through the integrated reference tool, which connects to databases like PubMed, Google Scholar, and others. Citations can be formatted in various styles, such as APA or Vancouver. For guidance on how to cite effectively within Elumity, visit the Citations and References page.

The ellipsis menu, represented by three dots (...), offers additional options for actions you can perform on a Card, document, or piece of content. It might include options such as "Edit," "Move," "Send," "Post to Discover Feed," and "Bookmark." This menu provides access to less frequently used but essential actions, enhancing the application's functionality without overwhelming the main interface.

Discover

The Discover Feed is Elumity's social space where users can share and discover Cards created by other users. It’s designed to be an area for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional engagement. You can filter the content by different categories, save interesting Cards, follow peers, and post your Cards. Saved Cards

Saved Cards are Cards that you have bookmarked or saved for later use. This feature is particularly useful when you come across valuable information in the Discover Feed that you want to revisit. You can access your saved Cards through the Discover Feed under the "Saved" tab. More details can be found in the Posting and Finding Cards in the Discover Feed documentation.

Following

In Elumity, you can follow other users, authors, or experts to stay updated on their contributions. Following someone allows you to see their latest Cards and activity in your feed, helping you stay connected with their research or insights. The "Recommend" feature allows you to suggest a Card to another user. This is particularly useful for collaborative work or when you want to draw attention to a Card you found insightful. You can recommend Cards directly from the Discover Feed, ensuring that your peers can benefit from the same resources.

Backup

The Backup feature allows users to download and save a copy of their entire library, including all documents, Cards, and references. This ensures that your data is safe and can be restored if needed. For a deeper understanding of how backups work, visit the User Settings, Security and Backup page.

Affiliation

Affiliation refers to your professional or academic association, such as your institution, organization, or workplace. You can update your affiliation details in your profile settings, helping others understand your background and expertise. Web Importer

The Elumity Web Importer is a browser extension that lets you quickly import articles and references from databases like PubMed, Google Scholar, and others directly into your Elumity library. It’s a powerful tool for gathering research materials. Detailed instructions can be found in the Browser Extension page.

Notifications

Notifications keep you informed about activities such as comments on your Cards, new followers, or updates from the people you follow. They appear in the notification bell icon at the top of your screen, ensuring you stay up-to-date with Elumity’s social interactions and content updates.

Quiz

Elumity’s Quiz feature allows you to create, customize, and take quizzes based on your Cards. This feature is designed for self-assessment, learning reinforcement, or educational purposes. You can use it to test your knowledge or share it with others in a learning environment.

Cards Library

The Cards Library is your personal repository of all the Cards you've created, saved, or uploaded. It's organized for easy access, allowing you to browse, search, and manage your Cards efficiently.

Profile

Your Profile contains your personal information, such as your name, affiliation, email address, and profile picture. This information can be edited in the User Settings and helps others identify you in the Discover Feed. Compare

The Compare feature enables you to view two Cards side by side, making it easier to analyze differences, similarities, or connections between the content. This function is accessible from the ellipsis menu on your Cards.
