It’s your all-in-one workspace for writing papers, managing references, creating flashcards, and more. It helps you stay organized and efficient, whether you're conducting research, preparing for exams, or writing an article.

Q: Is Elumity compatible with both web and mobile?
A: Yes! Elumity is fully functional on both the web and mobile app. The mobile app is available for iOS and Android devices and retains the same functionality as the web version but is designed to adhere to the respective platform's UI and UX principles.

Writing & References

Q: Can I write my entire thesis or paper on Elumity?
A: Absolutely! Elumity offers a comprehensive writing tool that allows you to create, format, and edit your paper with features such as reference management, annotation, and card integration. You can even import your references directly from PubMed, Google Scholar, and other databases using the Elumity browser extension.

Q: How do I add citations to my document?
A: While you're in the writing tool, highlight the text where you want to insert the citation, click on the [Ref] button, and select your desired reference from your library or online databases. You can choose from various reference styles, such as APA, MLA, or Vancouver. If you don’t see your reference format, don’t worry – you can select from over 10,000 different styles!

Q: Can I change the reference style in my document midway through writing?
A: Yes, you can. Click on "Select journal and style" under the References section, and you’ll be able to choose from the extensive list of reference formats. The entire document will automatically update to match the chosen style.

Q: How do I import references from PubMed?
A: You can import references directly through the "Refs" tab by searching for articles via the integrated PubMed search function. If you have the Elumity browser extension installed, you can import articles, abstracts, or even full PDFs directly into Elumity with just one click.

Cards & Quiz

Q: What are 'Cards,' and how can I use them effectively?
A: 'Cards' in Elumity are akin to flashcards that you can create from your notes, documents, or PDFs. They serve as quick-reference study aids and can be organized into folders for easy retrieval. They’re perfect for preparing for exams, summarizing research findings, or keeping track of key concepts.

Q: Can I create quizzes from my Cards?
A: Yes, you can create quizzes from your Cards! The Quiz feature pulls questions from the Cards you’ve created, allowing you to test your knowledge or prepare for exams interactively.

Browser Extension

Q: How does the Elumity browser extension work?
A: The browser extension allows you to seamlessly import references, abstracts, and PDFs directly from academic databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, ArXiv, and more. Simply navigate to the desired article and click the Elumity extension icon to save it to your library. You can even choose the folder where you want the reference to be stored.

Q: Why can’t I see the 'Save to Elumity' button when using the extension?
A: Make sure you’re logged in to Elumity in your browser. Also, check that the extension is installed correctly and has permission to access the site you’re on. If the problem persists, try restarting your browser or reinstalling the extension.

Mobile App

Q: Is the mobile app experience different from the web version?
A: While the mobile app retains all the core features of the web version, it has been optimized to fit the iOS and Android user interface guidelines. You’ll still be able to write, manage references, and create Cards, but the layout and interactions are designed to be mobile-friendly.

Q: Can I access my Cards and references offline in the mobile app?
A: Yes, you can access your Cards and references offline as long as you've downloaded them beforehand. However, make sure to have an internet connection when you first access them so that they are synced to your device.

User Settings & Backup

Q: How do I back up my Elumity data?
A: You can back up your entire library through the "Backup" section in the User Settings. This feature allows you to export your library as a .zip file, which you can download and store securely. It’s always a good idea to keep a backup of your data!

Q: What happens if I delete my account? Can I recover it later?
A: If you choose to delete your account, please be aware that this action is irreversible. Once deleted, your data will be permanently lost, and you won’t be able to reactivate your account later.

Technical Issues

Q: I’m having trouble importing a PDF. What should I do?
A: Ensure that the PDF file is not corrupted and is saved in a supported format. If the issue persists, try re-uploading it or using the Elumity browser extension to import it directly from the original source. You can also reach out to our support team if you continue to experience difficulties.

Q: Why is the reference style I need not available?
A: Elumity offers over 10,000 reference styles, but if you still can't find the one you need, please contact support, and we'll do our best to add it for you. You can also use the “Custom Reference” feature to manually create a citation in your desired format.

Security & Privacy

Q: Is my data secure with Elumity?
A: Yes, we take data security very seriously. All your data is encrypted, and we follow industry-standard security protocols to protect your information. Your data remains private and is never shared without your consent.

Q: Can I change my email address or password?
A: Yes, you can change your email address or password in the User Settings under "Your profile" and "Password." Make sure to save your changes!

Miscellaneous

Q: Can I collaborate with other researchers on Elumity?
A: Collaboration features are on our roadmap, so stay tuned! For now, you can share your documents and Cards externally via PDF export or use Elumity to collaborate in tandem with your team.

Q: Is there a limit to how many references I can store in my library?
A: There’s no strict limit to the number of references you can store, but if your library exceeds 500MB, we recommend creating backups regularly to keep everything running smoothly.

Q: How often is Elumity updated with new features?
A: We are constantly working to improve Elumity, with updates and new features rolled out on a regular basis. You can stay informed about new releases by following our announcements.
